... but if we don't read we'll be in a lot of trouble. Or at least I will be. I'm taking two history classes this semester: Early Colonial America (settlement to 1750's), and the American Revolution. They both have about 5 textbooks, and one of them actually expects to me read all of them in their entirety rather than just selected chapters, which puts me at something like 100-300 pages to read per week. That's a bit more than I'm used to, and I am suddenly glad for the slightly lighter schedule I've taken this time. It almost tempts to drop Latin just to give myself more time.
Piano lessons will also be stressful this year. My teacher is Ludmila Krasin, who is a friendly teacher with a thick Russian accent. Fortunately I'm doing better understanding her accent that I previously feared - over the phone it was difficult! However, she is an ambitious teacher and expects a lot of me, which will call for a serious increase in practice ethics. I've had to write "Practice Piano" into my schedule every day to remind myself to get going on this because I can't afford to do badly in lessons. Maybe if I'm lucky we'll get to know each other better soon, and things will not be quite so high-strung for the whole year? Eh, can't count on that happening though.
And again, here I am in the Learning Commons for the 8am shift. While it's nice to work during the least busy hours of the day, it's still quite a drag getting myself up and over here so early in the morning. I'm not going to be able to do much in the late evening this semester because of this. Still, we'll see what permanent shifts they end up giving me by the end of tomorrow.
I feel as though I've been neglecting the
will_of_time group lately, as I've done so very little writing in the past week. Still, it's not like anyone else has oodles of time to read it anyway.
So that's a quick summary of my academic life for the coming semester, it's going to be interesting to see how this all works out. Hopefully I will be smart and keep on top of everything as it comes so I don't get burned out. Fall semesters are good at burning me out.... gotta be careful about that.
