At about 7:30pm today Mr. Mike and I stepped into the elevator of our dorm to go back upstairs after dinner. Marissa didn't join us b/c she had to pick up a package at the cluster office. We stopped at the 4th floor for some biker dude to step off, and then we continued up. Suddenly the elevator shuddered to a halt and the doors didn't open.

.
And it was stuck. After a minute we used the emergency elevator call system to alert whoever it is that answers it that we were stuck. They said they'd send someone over soon. So we stood around for a bit in silence. It's Mr. Mike and I; we're perfectly capable of being silent for odd amounts of time. After a few minutes we decided to call Marissa and tell her where we were, and she told us to call her when we were freed. So we sat back in this little elevator and relaxed. We rooted through some old band papers and odd things like that, and finally put on some Enya music on his pocket PC.
Within a couple minutes of that, some guy appeared at the other side of the elevator doors. He had us try a few things in there, getting the thing open, but it didn't work. We did notice, however, that we were only about 2 inches above the floor. Not having any luck, the Guy from Housing told us that an elevator tech person would be along soon. So we played more music and talked about music and composing and band and stuff until Mike's phone rang.
It was Marissa calling, asking us what we were up to. It'd been an hour since we'd gotten stuck and she thought we were just hanging out and forgot to call her. Appalled that we were still in the elevator, she came upstairs to find us. For half an hour she was there talking to us through the doors, much to the amusement of several passers-by. Mike and I have some sympathy friends in 706... I wonder if we should visit them ;) lol
Well it was a good time there, and I even wrote the Last Will and Testament for Mr. Mike and myself. Suddenly at about 9:20 there was a voice from above telling us that he'd be opening the doors now and that should watch our step. The tech guy had finally arrived to free us after nearly an hour and a half!
So Mike reclaimed his shift in security and Marissa and I got ice cream at the Sylvan Snack Bar. It was good times and I'm a happier fellow now because of it.
